Mcaullif - connective tissue Flashcards
Reticular Fibers
Surround muscle cells, nerve fibers, and lymphoid
Loose connective tissue
Not as much fibers but more water. This is because the ground substance is negatively charged and thus attracts the water.
Do connective tissue stay around for a while or are they turned over?
They are turned over quite often
mesenchymala cell
has the ability to differentiate into fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, adipocytes etc.
Which cells reside in the connective tissue and which migrate there?
reside - fibroblasts, adipocytes, mesenchymal
migrate - WBCs
Diapidesis
White Blood Cell squeezing through the endothelium into the conective tissue
What will a macrophage look under a microscope?
LM - pink with a bunch of granules in it. It should be pretty difficult to find the nucleus.
EM - very heterogeneous because it should have phagocytized junk in it.
Mast cells
Has histamine in it.
Pretty large, should see a lot of pink granules, should be able to see nucleus.
In connnective tissue
Under LM you will see a lot of granules of histamine
Neutrophils
Have 3-5 lobes
ECM is made of what
ground substance and fibroblast
