Math 8 Formulas Flashcards
Volume of a Cube
V=s^3;
s is the length of the side.
Volume of a Cylinder
b x h OR (pi) (r^2) (h); b is base, h is height, pi is 3.14, r is radius.
Volume of a Cone
(1/3) (b x h) OR (1/3) (pi) (r^2) (h); ; b is base, h is height, pi is 3.14, r is radius.
The Pythagorean Theorem
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Find a Missing Leg Using the Pythagorean Theorem
a = sqrt (c^2 - b^2) OR b = sqrt (c^2 - a^2), sqrt means square root
Distance Formula
Distance = sqrt [(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)]
Volume of a Sphere
(4/3) (pi) (r^3)
Slope Formula
(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
Slope-Intercept Form
y = mx + b, m is slope and b is y-intercept
Standard Form
ax + by = c; a, b, and c are integers
Inverse of Squaring a Number
Taking a Square Root sqrt
Inverse of Taking a Square Root
Squaring a Number ^2
Volume of a Rectangular Prism
V = (l)(w)(h); l is length, w is width, and h is height
Area of a Circle
A = (pi)(r^2); r is radius
Area of a Triangle
A = (1/2)(b)(h); b is base and h is height
