Math Flashcards
How to find HA?
If the numerator exponent is less than the denominator exponent than the HA is Y=0
If the numerator and denominator exponent are the same, you divide the values infront of the x with the highest exponent.
If the numerator exponent is larger than the denominator exponent than there is no HA, but there is a OA/SA
How to find VA?
VA is found by setting the denominator equal to zero and finding what x values can be found (holes do not count)
How to find SA?
You have to divide the numerator by the denominator.
Y-intercept
A point where X is equal to zero
ex. (0, Y)
X-intercept
A point where Y is equal to zero
ex. (X, 0)
end behavior when the exponent is odd and the number in front of the exponent is negative
X—-> ∞, f(x)= -∞
X—-> -∞, f(x)= ∞
end behavior when exponent is even and the number in front of the exponent is negative
X—-> ∞, f(x)= -∞
X—-> -∞, f(x)= -∞
end behavior when exponent is odd and the number in front of the exponent is positive
X—-> ∞, f(x)= ∞
X—-> -∞, f(x)= -∞
