Johann Von Staupitz was Luther’s supervisor: he ordered Luther to pursue an academic career.
Johann Tetzel was a Dominican priest that sold indulgences. This provoked Luther to write a document attacking the Catholic Church’s corrupt practice of selling “indulgences” to absolve sin.
