180-240 grit abrasives that are used to smooth and refine surfaces and shorten natural nails
Medium grit abrasives
The manipulation of soft tissues of the body
Massage
Boards and buffers less than 180 grit that quickly reduce the thickness of any surface
Lower grit abrasives
Tools used to perform nail services that are multiple use or disposable
Implements
In massage various strokes that manipulate or press one layer of tissue over another
Friction
A stainless steel implement used to carefully trim away dead skin around the nails
Nipper
A conservative nail shape that is thought to be attractive on most women’s hands. Similar to squoval nail with even more rounded corners
Oval nail
A combination of clear polish and protein such as collagen
Protein hardeners
A slightly tapered nail usually extending just a bit past the fingertip
Round nail
The list of services that you are legally allowed to perform in your specialty in your state
Scope of practice
Disposable. an item that cannot be used more than once. Either because it cannot be properly cleaned and all visible residue removed or because cleaning and disinfecting it damages or contaminates it
Single use implement
A nail completely straight across the free edge with no rounding at the outside edges
Square nail
A nail with a square free edge that is rounded off at the corner edges
Squoval nail
A wooden stick used to removed cuticle tissue from the nail plate to clean under the free edge of the nail or to apply products
Wooden pusher
