living tissues Flashcards
What is known as a tissue?
A group of cells with a common origin that has been modified to perform a particular function.
What are the two types of Plant Tissues?
- Meristematic Tissues
- Permeant tissues.
Explain Meristematic tissues?
tissues that are dark and small in size. Or the tissues with cells that divide actively by mitosis to produce new cells.
Explain permanent tissues?
the tissues that are more larger and have a listing shape.
What are some features in meristematic tissues?
- These cells are not differentiated.
- The growth of the plant takes place due to the activity of Meristematic tissue.
What leads to the height of the plant increase?
Shoot apex.
What leads to the elongation and growth of roots?
Root apex.
What are some other features of meristematic Tissue?
- Cells are living.
- Cells are small in size.
- Cells are not differentiated.
- Cells contains a distinct nucleus.
Meristematic Tissues are present in specific locations of the plant. what are they?
- Apical meristem
- Lateral Meristem
- Intercalary meristem
Where can we find Apical Meristems?
- shoot apex
2.Root apex - Axillary buds
Where can we find intercalary meristems?
At nodes
Where are the lateral meristems present?
Stem and roots of the plants.
Permanent tissues can be divided into two groups. What are they?
- Simple permanent tissues.
- Complex permanent tissues.
What are the three types of simple permanent tissue?
- Parenchyma Tissue.
- Collenchyma Tissue
- Sclerenchyma Tissue.
What is known as a parenchyma tissue?
The tissue that forms the soft parts of the plant body.
