List of Panic Attacks Flashcards
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #1:
I took a girl out to watch a movie during my serious high-school years. I t was at a nearby movie theater, so I walked the distance to meet up with her there. I was not feeling any sort of anxiousness or having any negative thoughts. I was more in a rather quiet, unsocial, gloomy state of mind. We walked into the theater, got our tickets, grabbed snacks, and made our way to the movie. I was feeling quite anxious through the movie. I had to walk out the movie a couple of times to catch my breath. I was very confused.
Panic Scale 1-10: 2
Throughout the movie, I, for the first time I could ever remember happening in my life, was feeling anxiety. It was a horror movie. My heart was racing throughout the movie to the point where I asked the girl to excuse me. I walked to the restroom in the movie theater to catch my breath. I made my way back to the movie and was able to stay till the end. Throughout the movie, the girl did make a couple of moves on me such as leaning against my shoulder or cuddling against my arm. That confused me at that age. After the movie, I explained to the girl what I felt throughout the movie, she fell to the ground, got back up a coupl seconds later after I kept trying to wake her up, looked confused as if she never saw me, and then said she is my guardian angel.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #2:
I was walking to class at MDC Kendal Campus from my parked car. I started to feel tunnel vision while walking towards the school building from the parking lot. I sped up my walking speed until I was settled at my workdesk in the classroom.
Panic Scale 1-10: 4
I was feeling a bit lgiht headed. I was seeing tunnel vision. I thought I was going to pass out. I was very confused. That feeling had never happened to me before. This was my first official (though minor) Panic Attack.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #3:
While navigating to a different college campus (Wolfson Campus) the following semester, I used the Metro Bus, Metro Rail, and Metro Mover. 7 out of 10 times while sitting on the Metro Rail heading towards the college, I would have short but not minor panic attacks.
Panic Scale 1-10: 6
These short but continuous panic attacks made me feel like I was going to pass out. I felt a bit light headed. My heart would start beating faster for the short perious of time. It was nearly always in the same location during the navigation.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #4:
I was driving my car to the Wolfsom campus. I was more than half way there from my home. I had no problem driving there. I really enjoyed driving. While slowing down to pass through a toll-by-plate lane, I noticed I was a bit thirsty and had not drank water all day. It was a very hot day as well. Using my memory of the highway I was on, I could not recall any exit nearby to stop and graba drink of water. Checking my GPS, I was quite a distance from any exit.
Panic Level 1-10: 10
When it hit me that I was not where near an exit to graba quick drink of water, my heart suddenly made one loud beat and then started beating faster for quite a looong time. I started to breathe heavily. I got very scared that I could faint in the middle of the highway in the heat. I floored the car racing towards the next available exit. It took 15-20 minutes to come across any exit. I was breathing heavily the whole ride. My heart would not calm down. I felt as if I was putting in extra work to stay alive due ot the heavy breathing. Once I found a exit, the panicing calmed down a bit, but I was still very nervous and in fear. I was going to roll down my window and beg a passer-by for a bottle of water I saw they were holding. I told myself I would make it to the campus. The campus was roughly 5 minutes away. By the time I made it to the campus, I was more at ease. I was able to drive up a few levels of a parking garage, safely park the car, walk towards an elevator, enter the building, find a water fountain, and drink water. Once I completed the school tasks at the college, I purchased a bottle of water from a vending machine, and safetly drove my way back home.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #5:
My ex came to visit me from all the way across the country. I was looking forwards to seeing her. She came with her friend . Her friend had booked them a room at a motel near where I live. The plan was for them to enjoy themselves at the beach duuring they day and then I meet up with them that night at the motel to spend some time. The problem was the friend ended up booking a room at a location far far away from where I live. I agreed to go ahead and visit them. While on the way there, I kept fighting some feeling inside of me that was making me feel anxious of going and I end up giving in to the anxious thoughts and letting them know I will not be making it.
Panic Level 1-10: 8
I felt a strong urge to not drive the long distance. Thoughts kept swarming me such as how late it was and the distance I would be driving, they are in a high rise hotel now instead of the simple two story motel we spoke about, this would be my first time seeing this “friend” of mine who has been my penpal for over 10 years. All of those thoughts kept making me feel anxious. My heart was beating faster than normal.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #6:
I was working as a sign/arrow spinner. I stood in the middle of a highway advertising for a company by spinning a sign to catch drivers’ attention. I’ve been doing it for months without any issues, but further down the line, I started to feel dizzy while performing the act.
Panic Level 1-10: 4
At first, performing this act was no issue. I just played games on my phone while listening to music and spinning the sign with one hand. Felt like free money to me. Put abosulely no effort. Later down the line after doing this for some months, I noticed I started to feel dizzy while performing this job. I started to worry about where I was located. Either being in the middle or the complete opposite side of the highway. What I mainly worried was passing out. Not being able to make it back to the store I was working for. I did feel minor panic attacks. I was no longer able to just stand there freely holding a sign while playing games on my phone. I was now standing more solid. Making sure I can safely make it back across the street if I was in danger/peril or start to feel and form of uneasyness. Those type of thoughts now started to come to mind more commonly. I eventually departed the job.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #7:
I worked at Whole Foods market for roughly 3 years. Near the final months I worked for Whoel Foods, I started to feel anxious about driving to work.
Panic Level: 1-10: 5
While driving there, riding a bike there, driving my moped there, I many times felt a panic attack. I would eather start pedaling the bike faster or flooring the vehicle I was driving to get there faster. Once I parked, I felt relieved and would walk into work fine. This continued to happen throughout the remaining time I worked there.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #8:
I was leaving a park with a coworker and their partner. We chose to enjoy that day out on a bike ride. I noticed my water bottle was emtpy on the way out of the park. I looked around the park we were at for a waterfountain, but to my surprise, there were none.
Panic Level 1-10: 3
This started to make me feel a bit nervous. I was able to keep my cool while we continued to leave the park. They agreed to ride with me to the nearest super market. This made me feel a bit relieved knowing I’ll have some peolpe near me in case anything. I was leading the group. I stayed in front of them. We came to an intersection. I crossed the road, but upon lookng back after I crossed the road, I noticed they did not cross with me. We ccould not hear each other due to the distance and noise, but they signaled that they chose to just head to their home. This shocked and hurt me quite a bit, but I accepted that and say fairwell. I was able to keep relaxed while biking to the super market to grab some water. Once I entered the parking lot of the super market, I was shocked at how I was able to keep cool, but still feel that anxiousness. Once I locked my bike up, I felt perfectly fine knowing I had water nearby.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #9:
I went on a trip with my friend to Japan. I enjoyed every bit of the trip. I was able to explore Japan on my own as well as with my friend. I felt a very small anxious feeling once though while walking to a nearby corner store.
Panic Level: 1-10: 2
This anxious feeling was very small. I did not like the feeling. I choaw to “deal with it” and continue to go to the ciorner store, but I do remember having that feeling of nervousness hit me quite suddenly while walking to the corner store. Loved every bit of exploring the beauitiful neighorhood while walking to the corner store though.
Strong Memorable Panic Attacks I’ve experienced #10:
I chose to try to combat these anxious feeling I’ve been having while driving. So I hoped on my moped and drove to a near-by park to see how I feel. Heading there was fine. Leaving the park, I started to feel a bit light headed.
Panic Level 1-10: 6
I kept wondering what the fuck is going on in my mind to make me feel this way? Was I dehydrated? Was I going to pass-out? Other similar thoughts kept rushing through my mind. I called a relative of mine to see if that would ease my mind a bit. They answred, but was busy at some event so did not talk for long. Just said a quick hi and ttyl. Slightly eased my mind, but I still felt it. I was feeling very nervious of driving back home. I decided to go for it. Right when I exited the park, I was trapped in very very long traffic. I felt stuck. The nervousness started to build up even more. I called my sister out of fear of this feeling hoping she will make me feel better, but it again was just a quick hI and ttyl. I eventually made it to the corner store a few blocks down from my home. the nervousness suddenly sunk quite a lot, but was still there. I felt a big difference. I finally made it home and everything returned back to “normal”.
