Lesson 8 Flashcards
When a molecule other than the substrate binds with the active site of the enzyme and inactives it.
Competitive Inhibition
Occurs when another molecule binds to a different allosteric site at the enzyme. Which is not the active site
Noncompetitive Inhibition
Complexed or merged together enzymes. This is a form of quaternary structure of a protein. With one or more active site.
Multimeric Enzymes
When the multimeric Enzyme is activate another molecule called ________ is needed to bind an allosteric site.
Allosteric Activator
Any other part of the enzyme that is not the active site
Allosteric Site
Ensures that the rest of the binding sites of the multimeric enzyme is filled to capacity
Cooperativity
Is a non protein chemical substance or an inorganic metallic ion that is required for the catalytic activity of an enzyme
Cofactor
Give examples of cofactors
Cooper, Zinc, Iron, Manganese
May either be one or more inorganic ions or a complex organic or metal-organic molecule
Coenzyme
Give examples of Co-enzyme
Co-enzyme A, FAD, NAD
Protein part of an enzyme that requires both a coenzyme or one or more metallic ion for activity.
Apoenzyme
Entire Complex of an apoenzyme
Holoenzyme
