καλὸν ἡσυχία.
Calmness is a beautiful thing.
ἡ τοῦ σοφοῦ ψυχὴ ἣσυχός ἐστιν ἐν ταῖς τοῦ βίου συμφοραῖς.
The soul of the wise is calm in the misfortunes of life.
ἂδικος πλοῦτος οὒποτε βέβαιός ἐστιν.
Unjust wealth is never secure.
φεῦγε τὴν τῶν κακῶν φιλίαν καὶ τὴν τῶν ἀγαθῶν ἒχθραν.
Flee the friend of ugly things and the enmity of the good things.
οἱ νόμοι ψυχὴ τῆς πολιτείας εἰσίν.
The laws are the soul of the government.
σκηνὴ πᾶς ὁ βίος.
All life is a stage.
ὁ τῶν ἁνθρώπων βίος δῶρον τῶν θεῶν ἐστιν.
The life of men is the gift of the gods.
ἀνθρώπῳ σοφῷ ὁ κόσμος πατρίς ἐστιν.
To the wise man, the universe is a native land.
ἐν τῇ τῶν πολιτῶν εὐσεβείᾳ καὶ ἐν τῇ τῶν στρατιωτῶν ἀνδρείᾳ καὶ ἐν τῇ τῶν δικαστῶν δικαιοσύνῃ ἡ τῆς πολιτείας ῥώμη ἐστίν.
In the reverence of the citizen and in the bravery of the soldier and in the justice of the juryman is the strength of the government.
τὰ δίκαια ἀεὶ καλά.
The just are always beautiful.
βεβαία ἡ πόλις ἧς δίκαιοι οἱ πολῖται.
The secure city is its just citizens.
