What is the relation between culture and humans?
A
Culture forms us and we form culture:
- We share certain concepts
- People are active consumers, forming new forms of culture or meanings

-Consists of maps of meaning + Frameworks of intelligibility, helping us understand the world around us
- Stuart Hall: “Culture is the way we make sense of, give meaning to the world”
- Culture is under constant negotiation; conflicting parties

Why should we study culture?
A
-To see non-dominant ways of life that have less influence
-To understand real world issues and why media (movies, NEWS, streams, …) are the way they are
