Lesson 1 Flashcards
chloroplasts
Organelles found only in plant cells, in which sugar is made during photosynthesis
organelles
The tiny organ inside cells
cell wall
A stiff outer layer that surrounds a plant cell, protects it, and gives it its shape
nucleus
The control center of a cells that directs the cell’s activities
chromosomes
They can be found in the nucleus and they carry the DNA
DNA
Is a chemical that provides detailed instructions for cells and DNA can be found in chromosomes
What is cell theory?
It has three parts:
- Cells are the building blocks of al living things.
- All life processes take place in cells.
- new cells are produced from existing cells.
Explain how the parts of the cell function
- nucleus
- cell wall
- cytoplasm
- mitochondria
- cell memrane
- vacuole
- chloroplast
- nucleur membrane
nucleus: It controls all of the cell.
cell wall: It protect the plant cell and gives it shape.
cytoplasm: The organelle sits in it. It’s clear and like jelly.
mitochondria : Help make energy for the cell.
cell membrane: Is is the bag that holds the cell and they let the things go in and out.
vacuole: It cleans all of the dirty things in cell and the holds nutrients and wastes.
chloroplast: It is where photosynthesis happens.
nucleus membrane: it’s like a bag that holds everything in the nucleus
