lecture 10-part 2-GB Flashcards
Gall Bladder: Surface Anatomy
- On visceral surface of liver
- Associated with quadrate lobe
- Fundus extends lower than antero-inferior margin of liver
- Reservoir for bile; capacity 50ml
- Fundus of gall bladder inferior to 9th costal cartilage on the R side midclavicular line
Parts of the Gall bladder
Fundus, body, neck
Cystic duct:
Spiral valve/fold
5 – 12 folds
Not a true valve
Gall bladder is part of
biliary tree
Gallbladder and biliary tree
Extrahepatic Biliary system
Innervation of GB
Sympathetic T7-9
Parasympathetic vagus
Lymphatics
Liver lymph: Hepatic nodes
Gall bladder: Cystic & coelic nodes
Gall Stones
Gallstones may lodge in the neck, cystic duct, common bile duct or at the papilla
Bile cannot drain into te 2nd part of the duodenum
Due to stretching of the gall baldder or ducts it is associated with pain, jaundice, but
often asymptomatic
Biliary colic in right upper quadrant pain following fatty meal
Cholecystitis: Inflammation, pain is often associated with nausea, vomiting or fever
Pain:
Right subcostal or epigastric pain radiating to back or lower pole of scapula lasting for 20 minutes to 6 hours
Similar to liver distribution
