Lecture 10 Flashcards
What are the 5 classes of antibodies?
IgM, IgG, IgA, IgD, IgE
What is the largest class of antibody?
IgM
What class of antibody is produced first and why?
IgM as it has the ability to bind 10 individual antigens greatly improving the efficiency of phagocytosis through agglugation
What antibody class is predominately used as defense system of mucous membranes?
IgA
What antibody class is transported across the placenta?
IgG
What is the most abundant antibody class?
IgG
What antibody class is found on virgin B lymphocytes?
IgD
What antibody is used to deal with parasites?
IgE
What membrane proteins are found on both helper T cells and killer T cells?
TCR and CD3
What membrane proteins can be used to distinguish Helper T cells from cytotoxic T cells?
CD8 found on Killer T cells, CD4 found on helper T cells
What is the function of the TCR protein?
Receptors for antigens bound by the MHC proteins on cells
What are the class one MHCs?
HLA-A/B/C
What are the class two MHCs?
HLA-DP/DQ/DR
What is the difference between class one and two MHCs?
Class one is on every nucleated cell and Class two is only found on antigen presenting cells
Which MHC class do helper T cells react with?
Class two
