What is psychophysiology
the relationship between physiological signals from the body and brain to the mental processes and disorders
Neuraxis
imaginary line drawn through the base of the spinal cord to the front of the brain
Cephalic Flexure
curves between the brainstem and forebrain in humans
anterior/Rostral
towards the head
Posterior/Caudal
towards the feet/tail
Dorsal
toward the top of the head or back
Ventral
towards the front surface of facing ground (belly)
Lateral
toward the side
Medial
towards the midline (neuraxis)
Ipsilateral
on the same side of the body (right arm right leg)
contralateral
on the opposite side of the body (right arm left leg)
Unilateral
one side
bilateral
two sides
Proximal
nearest point of attachment to limb or structure (foot to hip; hand to shoulder; from far in)
Distal
farthest away from attachment or origin (shoulder to hand; hip to foot; in to out)
