lecture 1 Flashcards
three main parts of the 2008 body tissue act
its at the bequest of the donor
the donor and an immeadiate donor agrees to donate
the body is held for around 18 months, may be held longer for research purposes
4 main tissue types and their percentages
epithelial 3% , muscle 50%, nervous 2% , connective 45%
role of epithelial tissue
is made up of many sheets of cells held close together, making epithelial tissue good protection. Making barriers between us and environment as well as making layers of skin, layers inside your cheek and in glands. These epithelial also control permeability, sensation and produces specialised secretions.
connective tissue role
As a whole plays to protect delicate organs, make framework for the body, defend body from invading microorganisms, store energy and support/surround/connect other body tissues
3 types of connective tissue
Blood and lymph are fluid connective tissues.
There’s also proper connective tissue
is supporting connective tissue: bone and cartilage
role of blood and lymph
Tissues that flow around the body. Connects parts across body and contains things like immune cells.
roles of connective tissue proper
connects areas, fills space, stores energy in adipose(fats). This stuff is made of lots of cells and fibres, the thicker these fibres the stronger, like collagen for example
role of supporting connective tissue
plays role in protection and giving skeleton shape.
