Why did the Romans offer sacrifice? (2)

What did the process of sacrificing an animal involve?
- Ensure that everybody has washed their hands, is clean
- Wash the sacrifice and/or decorate it with ribbons
- Hold a procession, involving the animals and humans involved
- Hold prayers honouring the God/Goddesses the sacrifice was full, and what was wanted in return
- Have the person conducting the sacrifice was their hands
- Pour wine over the animals head, the animal is not slaughtered
- Ensure the priest guts the animal, taking all of the internal organs (entails)
- If the animals organs aren’t healthy or perfect, repeat steps 1 to 7 with a new animal

What happened during the festival of Saturnalia?
- A young pig would sacrificed
- Wool would be taken of the statues of Saturn’s feet to represent the lifting of chains
- A huge public feast took place
- Everybody was treated equally
What would happen during Lupercalia?
- a goat and pig would be sacrificed
- the goats blood was smeared open two youths
- men would tie the skin of the goats around their waist and run around naked hitting people with the skin

Who was Spartacus and what do you think about him?
Spartacus was a brave gladiator who led an army of 73 other gladiators to escape the gladiator school. Along the way, many other slave joined the group and soon they were an army of 100,000 men.
I think that he was a very strong willed and determined person. I admire his courage and perseverance
