heavily populated by major waterways
2/3 of canadas population lives here mostly in GTA and Montreal
farm communities make up area between major cities but face growing urban development

very rich in resources(coal deposits, metallic minerals, forests, various fruit orchards)
attracts many tourists for its mountain slopes and scenery

view from above shows an endless patch of squares which are individually measured patches for farmers
beef and cattle ranches also dominate the landscape
Edmonton and Calgary are the largest cities
