In the Philippines are many and varied and can be categorized in several ways.
Ethnic dances
These dances are those that were created by specific cultural or ethnic groups to be performed as part of traditional rituals
Ritualistic dances
Usually performed to celebrate a good harvest, or the birth of a first born child
Lumagen, thanksgiving dance by the kalingatribe in the cordillera
For bountiful harvest
(Thanksgiving dance) dumadel by the subanen tribe
Depicts a war ceremony and is performed before the men go off to war with a rival tribe. It name means bird, said to be an omen before war

A dance that originated from the province of leyte, and imitates the bird called tikling
Tinikling
Important life milestones such as the birth of a couple’s first child, a girls coming of age, courtship, and even death are celebrated through dance
