What is a NIC?
A newly industrialised country. (A country that has been developed in the last 20 years.)

Why is it wrong to use the term LEDC and what term should we use now?
LEDC (less economically developed country) is an old and generalised term that is best avoided now. The term to be used is LDC (least developed country) there are fifty of these including Sudan, Ethiopia and Afghanistan.
What does OPEC stand for?
Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries
What are some examples of Ex-Soviet states?
Ukraine / Estonia
Who are the G8?
(Group of 8) A group of the most rich and powerful countries in the world. Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and the USA.
What are some examples of high income countries?
Sweden, Spain, Australia and the G8
Give an example of an LDC
Sudan / Ethiopia / Afghanistan
What are some reasons that countries may choose to group together?
Political, Wealth, Trade Blocs, Historical (the commonwealth)
Give an example of a country that shows that a high GDP does not mean a high HDI
