Knee and Thigh Assessment Flashcards
LCL, Posterolateral capsule/arcuate popliteal complex/PCL/ACL/Biceps femoris
Varus stress test
- Laxity in ext-indicative of a more significant injury- capsular disruption with rotary instability
- Laxity in slight flexion- one plane instability (LCL)
MCL/Posterior Oblique ligament/Posteromedial capsule/ACL/PCL
Valgust stress test
- Laxity in extension
- Laxity in slight flexion
PCL laxity
Sag Sign
ACL/Posterior oblique ligament/Arcuate popliteal complex
Lachman’s test (not flap lesion of meniscus- false negative)
ACL/Posterolateral capsule/posteromedial capsule/MCL
Anterior drawer test
ACL- Anterolateral rotatory instability
Lateral pivot shift test
- Lateral tibial plateau reduces posteriorly (40-60 deg)
PCL/Arcuate-popliteal complex/posterior oblique ligament/ACL- posterior instability
Posterior drawer test
PCL, Popliteal arcuate ligament complex,LCL, oblique ligament, popliteal tendon- Posterolateral rotatory instability
Dial Test
- Isolated Postero-lateral capsule disruption (popliteal arcuate complex)- increase of 20 deg in Ext Rot
- PCL, Posterolateral corner- increase in tibial ER at 90 compared to 30
Meniscus- Functional Tests
Squat progressing depth +/- bounce Duck walk Hop straight leg on landing Cross over walk - Pain provocation
Meniscus
Thessaly Test- Pain/click Mc Murray’s- Pain Apley’s Test - Pain - Less pain- decompression
Effusion
Effusion test
Patella instability/prev. Patella dislocation
Patella apprehension test
- Pain
Tendon’s response to load
Eccentric control
