anger- the theme of the Iliad, the anger of achilles
nostos
to return (home). this is what the greeks really want to do.
kleos
glory/renown. all the warriors want to be remembered and to be famous for their deeds.
timé
honour. very similar to kleos, the warriors achieve this through fighting, debating and competing
aristeia
the demonstrating of one’s heroism on the battlefield; a moment of nobleness - but could end in death.
geras
prize, warriors win these through fighting/competing and it increases their glory and honour; often these prizes are human.
hubris
arrogance, the average warriorwill not back down for fear of losing their kleos/timé, this often results in them being arrogant.
ate
delusion, to think you are correct when you are wrong
aidos
shame, compromises a warriors status
xenia
hospitality to strangers; s stranger could be a god in disguise, important culturally.
