pathogenesis
aberrant immune rxn to RNA virus that can become persistent in genetically prone pts
pathology
endothelial necrosis
transmural inflammation w/ neutrophils, lymphocytes, necrosis, aneurysms, thrombosis
Signs and symptoms
persistent high fever
conjunctivitis
mucosal and skin erythema and edema
(esp. palms and soles)
cervical lymphadenopathy
**strawberry tongue
Diagnosis
Hx and physical examination
Treatment
aspirin and IV immunoglobulin
prompt treatment can dramatically improve prognosis
