Joints Flashcards
Synovial joints or diarthrosis
A joint that permits considerable (great) movement
Synarthrosis
A joint that is restrictive or permits no relative movement between articulated elements
What is a synovial joint (capsule) made of
Consist of dense fibrous connective tissue to line with synovial membrane, which secretes a lubricating synovial fluid into a confined space
The ends of contacting bone are capped with articular cartilage
What is synarthroses
Lack synovial structures vs diathrosis
Within synarthrosis what is synostosis
If connection between element is a bone
Within synarthrosis what synchondrosis
Connection between cartilage
Within synarthrosis what is syndesmosis
Connection of fibrous connective tissue
Symphyses vs Sutures
Most synchrondoses
Symphyses-formed at midline, cartilagenous joint, intebertebral disc, pubic bone
Sutures-syndesmoses (connective fibrous tissue)
Joints or articulations
Where separate cartilage elements make contact
