Stages of the Future Second Officer Pilot Programme

A

Brand discovery
- invite future second officers to headquarters in Leeds to find out what makes our customers choose to fly with us
- meeting head office and operational teams allows us to understand how Jet 2 plan, market, sell and deliver flight and holiday programs

Inflight discovery
- will train and operate as cabin crew to understand and deliver our award winning VIP service as well as enjoy the opportunity to meet customers

Ground discovery
- spend time with the famous “Red team” and customer helpers who welcome our customers and make our airports run smoothly
- not forgetting the ‘back of house team’ either. Future second officers will be right there with them in the flight deck during departures and turn around, learning how we dispatch our aircraft

Simulator Discovery
- while working through the future second officer programme it’s important that pilots maintain flying competency
- the simulator discovery will create a hands on experience and will continue the exposure to operating a jet aircraft
- can practice general handling, raw data ILS approaches and explore aircraft energy management

Base discovery
- programme concludes in the crew room, where future second officers will meet captains, first officers, trainers and base management teams
- great opportunity to observe briefings, get involved in aircraft set ups, fly on jump seats and start to see how we operate in base
- designed to create familiarity with their soon to be operating base; future second officers will feel more prepared for their first day on the line

Q

Why Pilot

A

earliest memories parents sat round dinner table with my mother testing father on atpl questions and playing on my dads Microsoft flight simulator.
Age 13, for my birthday, my fathers friend took me up in his Grumman for a trial flight
Though not a financially viable option,I assessed the cost of flying and the fulfilment that flying would bring me and was determined to fund my way through training and make it a reality
Having achieved my PPL, I sought for deeper knowledge and a more structured form of flying
What draws me to commercial aviation is the unique combination of responsibility, complexity and ability to impact others lives through safe, efficient and commercially viable transport
Fascinated by the technical challenges of operating such a complex piece of machinery, appreciate the constant need to gain knowledge with the requirement of recurrent training
Having come from a customer service background I appreciate that the role of a commercial pilot caters to both of my passions; making memories and being part of putting smile on the face of customers
