What is Sexual Reproduction
A non-identical offspring from two parents and involves the formations of gametes.
Define Internal Reproduction and provide an example
It’s when Gametes meet inside the female’s reproduction system. Examples include Humans and mammals.
Define External Reproduction. Provide an example
It’s when Gametes meet outside the females’ reproductive body. Examples include fish
List 2 advantages of external reproduction and 2 disadvantages
Advantages:
1. Larger Amount of Offspring
2. Little energy required to find mate
Disadvantages:
1. Not all gametes will be fertilized
2. Developing Offspring will not be produced
List 2 advantages and disadvantages of Internal Offspring
Advantages:
1. Developing offspring are protected
2. More Likely for fertilization to occur
Disadvantages:
1. More energy required to find a mate
2. Less offspring are produced
What are the female structures of a flower
(Stigma, Style and Ovary) = Carpel
What are the male structures in a flower
(Anther, Filament) = Stamen
What does cross fertilization mean
It’s a pollen from a different plant onto the stigma
What does self-fertilization mean
It’s a pollen from the same plant onto the stigma
