Introduction Flashcards
Context
Between 1906-1914 the Liberal Government of Herbert Asquith introduced a series of social welfare reforms which were designed to improve the lives of British people. These reforms were targeted at improving conditions for the old, the young, the sick, the unemployed and indeed the employed.
Factors
Some historians argue that these reforms led to great improvements as they improved the lives of these groups, whereas others argue that their impact was greatly limited.
Line of argument
This essay will argue that although the reforms put in place by the Liberal Government made a somewhat positive impact on the lives of British people, there was still a long way to go as many of these acts had great drawbacks which limited their success.
