- Believed politics should be rooted in fundamental beliefs, rather than consensus and compromise
- Rejected consensus politics - sticking to principles was more important

A
- Against dependency - high levels of tax and TU power
- Everyone should work hard to make a living - didn’t believe anyone should depend on the state except the most vulnerable
- Hard work should be rewarded - low income tax
- Key to economic growth was individual enterprise
- Argued private companies were more efficient than government agencies - profit driven

- British law was central to politics
- Suspicious of radical forms of protest eg marches and strikes
- Rejected protests as they usually came from minority groups. She believed that individual rights alone should be protected
