What is the definition of the Endocrine System?
It is a Chemical Messenger system comprising of feedback loops of The Hormones released by internal Glands directly into the Circulatory system, Regulating distant target organs.
When comparing the NN system and the Endocrine what is considered?
The nervous and endocrine systems act together to coordinate functions of all body systems.
What is a “Hormone”?
A mediator molecule that is released in one part of the body, but regulates activity of cells in other parts of the body.
Most Hormones enter the Interstitial fluid and then ——-?
They will enter the Interstitial Fluid and then the Blood stream.
How does the Endocrine System Control body activities?
It will release mediators called Hormones.
What do mediators act as?
They can act as neuro T’s & Hormones (AKA, Norepinephrine).
What are the 2 types of Endocrine glands?
Exocrine & Endocrine.
What are “Exocrine” Glands?
They secrete their own products into ducts that carry the secretion into body cells cavities, into the lumen of an organ or the outer surface of the body.
What are “Endocrine” Glands?
These glands secrete their own product (Hormones) into the IF surrounding the Secretory cells rather than into ducts.
What are Examples of Exocrine glands?
This would include: Sudoriferous Sweat glands, Sebaceous Oil glands, Mucous Digestive glands.
What are Examples of Endocrine glands?
This would include: Pituitary, Thyroid, Parathyroid, Adrenal and Pineal Glands.
What is the Process of Endocrine glands secretion hormones?
After leaving the endocrine glands into the Surrounding IF, The hormones diffuse into the blood capillaries and then gets delivered to the target cells.
What are organs that contain Endocrine cells of their own?
This includes: Hypothalamus, Thymus, Pancreas, Ovaries, Testes, Kidneys, Stomach, Liver, Small intestine, Skin heart, Adipose tissue & Placenta.
