Intervention Principles For first test Flashcards
3 elements of intervention
communication/documentation, patient related interactions, direct intervention
purposeful and skilled interaction of the pt with the patient using various pt procedures and techniques to produce changes in the condition consistent with the diagnosis and prognosis
intervention
first thing to explain after exam/eval
what is wrong with the patient and why they are experiencing pain/limited funciton
four factors to consider in selecting direct interventions
safety, psychological state, economics, social support
four things present during inflammation stage
painful movement, guarding, increased edema and tissue tension
three things present during proliferation stage
inflammation subsides, tenderness to touch, end range active pain
three things present during maturation stage
no inflammation, may have adhesions, passive overpressure pain olny
during inflammation stage, use blank only
PROM
during proliferation stage do blank and blank
PROM, active assisted motion
during maturation phase blank should be used
arom
movement within the unrestricted ROM with assistance by other internal or external force… prime mover needs help (pulleys)
active assisted
some things that prom will not do
will not assist in circulation as much as arom, increase strength or indurance
for strong muscle arom will not
increase or maintain strength
arom will also not equal blank
specificity of training
blank can also be used during inflammatory stage
retrograde massage, submaximal isometrics
