This quotation shows that Eva was only asking for her raise and not forcing Mr Birling into it, so he could gave taken different action to resolve the situation.
“You think young women ought to be protected against unpleasant and disturbing things?”
This quotation suggests that Mr Birling thinks that since she is not protected, he can take advantage of her. So Mr Goole is trying to make the point that she doesn’t need to be protected, he just shouldn’t take advantage of her vunerablity
“(Sternly to them both) you see, we have to share something. If there’s nothing else, we’ll have to share our guilt.”
We have to share real things, if we do not share these things then we share the guilt of not sharing our belonging.
“(Massively) Public men, Mr Birling, have responsibilities as well as privileges.”
No matter how many privileges the rich folk have, they will always have their responsibilities.
“(Very deliberately) I think you did something terribly wrong - and you are going to spend the rest of your life regretting it”
This quotation suggests that they may not think big of it now, however it will always shadow them, the fact that they all assisted in the demise of a young woman.
