Infection and Immunity Flashcards
Expression of what cytokines induce the activation of Th1 T cells?
IL12, IFNy
What cytokines are produced by Th1 T cells?
IL2, IFNy, TNF-a, which are proinflammatory
Expression of what cytokines induce the activation of Th2 T cells?
IL2 and IL4
What cytokines are produced by Th2 T cells?
IL4, 5, 6, 10, 13 which are anti-inflammatory
Expression of what cytokines induce the activation of Treg T cells?
IL12 and TGFB
What cytokines are produced by Treg cells?
IL10, IL35 and TGFB
Expression of what cytokines induce the activation of Th17 T cells?
IL6 and TGFB
What cytokines are produced by Th17 cells?
IL17, IL21, IL22
What does the presence of Th17 suggest?
Chronic disease
What is the function of Th1 cells?
Release pro-inflammatory cytokines that activate macrophages and cytotoxic T cells to mount an immune response and eliminate pathogens
What is the function of T2 cells?
T2 cells are CD4 T cells that release anti-inflammatory cytokines that activate B cells, promote antibody production and inhibit macrophages to protect the body against damage after inflammation
What is the function of Th17 cells
Th17 cells are CD4 T helper cells which release cytokines which can act as pro- or anti-inflammatory depending on the environment.
These cells can help against pathogens but are also implicated in chronic inflammation and autoimmune disorders
What is the function of Treg cells?
Treg cells are WBCs that are important for regulating the immune response. They release inhibitory cytokines and promote the differentiation of M2 macrophages to dampen the immune response and protect against chronic inflammation and prevent autoimmune diseases.
