what hormones are in breast milk? and what are their functions
oxytocin - causes milk delivery, pulsatile on muscle cells, high when baby is near, stress can delay
prolactin - responsible for milk production, responsive to touch/stimulation, levels high at night
progesterone - inhibits milk production by inhibiting prolactin
signs of ineffective breastfeeding for baby and mum
baby - feeding very freuqently, frustration, poor wt gain, jaundice, hypernatremia
mum - sore nipples, engorgement, mastitis, low milk production, loss of confidence
