Types of incontinence
A
1) URGE: sudden urge to wee followed by involuntary urination, resulting in frequent urination. Treatment involves relaxatin techniques and anti-muscarinic medication. Urogenic/ myogenic origin
2) STRESS: increased abdo pressure overrides external sphincter and allows urine to leak. Treatment involves exercises to strengthen the external sphincter. Anatomical origin
3) OVERFLOW: Problem with bladder emptying due to blockage e.g. enlarged prostate or ineffective detrusor muscle. Eventually overflows and leaks throguh the sphincters. Weak, intermittent stream and hesitancy
