A

Fathers who put aside their fatherly bond with their children and wife have the chance to lose it if they die in battle. This was potrayed a hard choice to make thus meaning that parenting wasnt hated among adults and they cared about their children

What does Hektor taking off his helm to calm down his son symbolize?

A

Hektor was known as “Hektor of the Shiny Helm” which was his status as a warrior. In order to be a father and soothe his beloved child, Hektor had to take off his helm, his symbolism as a warrior, in order to be a father.

What is a potential result for kids that lose their fathers? (Hint: the death of Hektor)

A

Hektor’s wife, Andromache, tells of of what will happen to her and their son, Astyanax, now that Hektor died. They will both be sold into slavery, will lose all of their belongings and will live miserable lives. This hints to what can happen to families if the father is absent or dead.
