• It usually occurs 36-40 weeks of pregnancy
• Cause : unknown
• Leading cause of death associated with PROM is
infection

than 2000 ml or amniotic fluid index is more
than 24 cm

Less than the average amount of AF ( 300 ml or AF
index < 5 cm)
• Usually caused by a bladder or renal disorder that
interferes with voiding
• Severe growth restriction which can lead to Potter
Syndrome
• Suspected when the uterus fails to meet its expected
growth rate
• Confirmed by Ultrasound
