Laws that were designed to segregate African Americans and White Americans.

A leader in the African-American Civil Rights who believed in nonviolence to restore African American rights.
Human rights
The standards of treatment and equality of opportunity that all people everywhere should have so that they can have fair, free and peaceful lives.
Nonviolence
A demonstration without the use of violence. E.g. marches, rallies.

A campaign that started when Rosa parks refused to give up her seat
March on Washington
This campaign occurred on the 28th of August 1963 and led to the passing of the civil rights bill.
Declaration of Human rights
A document to promote and encourage respect for human rights.
Birmingham campaign
This campaign had two phases and aimed at desegregating a particular city in the South.

Article 1. Everyone is born free and we should all be treated in the same way.
Article 2. Everyone is equal despite differences in skin colour, gender, religion or language for example.
Article 3. Everyone has the right to life and to live in freedom and safety.
Article 4. No one has the right to treat you as a slave nor should you make anyone your slave.
Article 5. No one has the right to hurt you or to torture you.
Article 6. Everyone has the right to be treated equally by the law.
Article 7. The law is the same for everyone, it should be applied in the same way to all.
Article 8. Everyone has the right to ask for legal help when their rights are not respected.
Article 9. No one has the right to imprison you unjustly or dismiss you from your own country.
Article 10. Everyone has the right to a fair and public trial.
What was the result of the Greensboro sit ins Campaign?
This campaign led to the passing of the civil rights bill in 1964 which gave the government the right to enforce desegregation in all states, in all facilities, employment, accommodation.
What was the result of the March on Washington Campaign?
The city officially became desegregated. Some whites even hired African Americans in jobs previously reserved for whites. It elevated Martin Luther King to the position of top black leader in the country
What was the result of the Montgomery Bus boycott Campaign?
A decision by the Supreme Court on 13th November, 1956, forced the Montgomery Bus Company to accept integration of Black and white people on all inner state buses. The bus company agreed to seat all passengers on a first come, first served basis. The following month the buses in Montgomery were desegregated.
