What is diet?
The food eaten in one day
What is a balanced diet
A balanced diet is a diet that contains all of the required nutrients in suitable portions for the right amount of energy
Peristalsis
Rhythmical muscular contractions that move food through the alimentary canal
Fats and oils
Is needed to make cell membranes and is stored in the adipose tissue and acts around the body’s organs such as kidneys providing as mechanical protection for them
We find fats and oils in meat, dairy products and oily fish
Proteins
Proteins are needed to build cells for growth it is also needed to make haemoglobin insulin ( a hormone) and antibodies ( which destroys pathogens)
We find proteins in meat fish eggs diary products nuts beans and seeds
Vitamins
Vitamins are organic substances which are taken in small amounts without vitamins you can get a vitamin deficiency disease
The digestive system
The digestive system is a group of organs that carries out the digestion of food
What do artery’s do?
They carry blood away from the heart
Why does a vein have smaller pressure?
Because they have a bigger lumen
Artery high or low pressure?
High pressure as it is carrying blood away from the heart
