Q

How is encryption currently applied to address an opportunity?

A

Encryption is currently applied to protecting mails online. Most email sites use two-way encryption with a combination of private key and public key. The public key is used to encrypt a message and can only be decrypted with a unique private key known by the receiver. Encryption is applied as if an email was being sent to a friend/colleague through the internet and someone gained access to it, then they can possibly use the email for harm especially if it has some personal information. This is risky especially with Government emails as these emails can possibly be intercepted and could be used for malicious purposes. By encrypting a mail, only the receiver (and sender) who has the unique private key that can decrypt the mail can read the intended mail. It cannot be read by those who intercept the mail as the encrypted email will consist of unreadable characters that must be decrypted to be readable. This means that the mail can be sent securely through the internet without having to be worried about others viewing it.
