What is agency jurisdiction?
A
The agency approach, which is observed in California, the majority rule limits the application of felony murder to those homicides committed by the felon or an agent of the felon. In other words, it does not apply if the person who directly causes the death is a non-felon, such as a security guard.

What is proximate cause jurisdiction?
A
Describes how liability attaches for any death proximately resulting from the unlawful activity—even the death of a co-felon—notwithstanding the killing was by one resisting the crime
