This was appeasement.

It was publicly agreed that the USSR would not object if Germany invaded Poland. Secretly, they agreed that once Poland was overrun the two powers would divide it between them.

Britain, France and USSR agreed to support Czech if Hitler invaded.
When Nazis organised demonstrations in the Sudetenland demanding the are should be part of Germany, Britain and France but pressure on Czech to give in to avoid war.
