What was the great depression?

A

In the mid 1930’s there was an economic crisis known as the great depression because of a stock market crash in new York city in 1929 which spread in the United states of America.

How and what impact did the Great Depression have on Germany?

A

This impacted Germany since it was reliant on foreign loans from America and dependent on foreign trade. By the end of 1929 1.5 million Germans were unemployed and early 1933 6 million Germans were unemployed and thousands of people couldn’t find a place to live.

A

The Wiemar government failed to respond to the great depression because the government was spending money to stimulate the economy in Germany and didn’t have any money leftover to respond to the Great Depression.

How did this help Hitler and the Nazi’s gain power?

A

Because the Wiemar Government signed the Treaty of Versailles and the people didn’t want them as their Government anymore. The people of Germany were looking for a new government of Germany and they believed Hitler and the Nazi party were a good replacement. Also the Nazi party promised that they would restore the honor of Germany.

    The president could rule the country in the event that the public and the security are endangered the Reich president may intervene with the aid of the armed forces.

    There were a lot of parties with different views and no parties were working together to gain a majority making it difficult to agree and pass laws.

why was Hitler imprisoned?

A

On the night 8 November 1923, Hitler and 600 troopers burst into the meeting that the Bavarian leader were holding at the local hall, Hitler forced them to agree to rebel and let them go home. The next day Hitler and the Nazi’s went to Munich thinking they would take power but Bavarian leader called the police and the army who killed 16 Nazi’s.
