Never say “referral” say:
Connection or inquiry
What does CSR stand for?
Cumulative survival rate
The HiRes 90K internal is MRI safe to what standards
.3 and 1.5 Tesla
What does the Intellilink do?
ensures that the internal device will only connect with the external device it was programmed to (patients cannot swap processors)
What is AB’s current one year CSR
99.83%
What is AB’s impact resistance rating
6 joules
Naida CI is ___% smaller, gives up to ____% performance improvement, and ____% wireless connectivity
40% smaller, 55% performance improvement, 100% wireless connectivity
How many battery options are there for Naida
5 (110, 170, 230, AA, disposable)
How many sizes are available in the T-mic 2?
3-small, medium, large
How many hours of battery life does each battery offer?
110: 12-17 170 w/ FM: 12-16 170 w/0 FM: 18-27 230: 25-36 Zinc Air: 31-56 AAA: 129-183
Will the zinc air batteries be damaged if placed on the power cell charger?
No
What type of program do you need to perform a listening check with the Naida
You don’t need a specified program.
How is standby mode activated?
Active: press and hold program button and it goes into power save, repress and everything goes back to previous settings.
Passive: if implant is unlocked for 5 min it will go into standby
How many programs can each processor have?
5
What is data logging?
allows the audiologist to see how often the external is connected to the internal and what programs are being used
How is datalogging used?
it has to be programmed in by the audiologist
Do you need a specific program for the telecoil?
Yes because it isn’t an auto telecoil
What internal alarms are on the Naida?
Volume, low battery, program change
Program: will give # of beeps for program # (3 beeps=program 3)
Volume: beep once for up and once for down, but 2 short beeps to indicate middle
Low battery: long beep every 15 min starting 45 min prior to battery dying
What are LED lights?
Red, Green, and Orange lights indicating status of implant
What are the various orange beeps and what do they indicate?
orange blinks at startup: number of blinks is battery status
solid orange: battery is almost depleted
Blinks twice every 3 seconds: battery is almost depleted and can’t support stimulation
Light fades out: Naida is entering standby mode
What does a fading orange light mean?
Naida is going into standby
What does a blinking orange light mean (every 3 seconds)?
battery is almost depleted
What are the various red lights?
One red blink per second: loss of lock
Rapid red blinks: intelliLink is activated-wrong implant
Solid red: processor is in error condition
5 red blinks: responding to MyPilot “Find paired device” for the right side
What do rapid red blinks indicate?
the wrong implant has been connected
What do 5 red blinks indicate?
the right implant is responding to the MyPilot “find paired device”
What are the various green lights?
blinks in response to loud sounds: processor and mic are responding to sound
Blinks at startup and program change: indicates the program it is in
Solid green: processor is not yet programmed
Four blinks: left processor responding to MyPilot “find paired devices”
What does a solid green light mean?
the processor isn’t yet programmed
What do four green blinks mean?
The left processor is responding to MyPilot “find paired devices”
How many microphones are on the Naida?
4: processor mic, rear mic, T-mic 2, headpiece mic
What is Ultrazoom?
allows the processor to focus on speaker directly in front of them at a 60* angle (like a miners helmet)
can be unilateral or bilateral
What is Duophone?
Streams phone call to both ears
Applies 6dB of attenuation
What is Zoom Control?
Focus on right or left and attenuates sound (by 12dB) on non-focus side
How much attenuation is applied to non-focus ear in Zoom Control?
12dB
What is QuickSync?
Allows the recipient to change volume or programs in both processors with one touch
What is DirectTouch?
Allows the recipient to enter Zoom Control and Duophone and choose focus ear with one touch
What are the battery options for Neptune?
Disposable lithium AAA battery, rechargeable AAA battery
What is an IP rating
Ingress protection
Tells how water tight and dust proof a processor is
What is the Neptunes IP rating and what do the numbers mean?
68:
6 is the highest dust tight rating
8: means AB went above and beyond the standard rating of 7 which is 2 meters depth for 30 min
What processor has audible external alarms?
Neptune
What do the orange LED lights on the neptune indicate?
battery status: blinks for battery life, solid means it’s nearly depleted, fading out means the processor is shutting down
What do the green LED lights indicate on the neptune?
blinks in response to loud input, program number, solid green: empty program slot
What do the red LED lights on the Neptune indicate?
one blink per second-loss of lock, rapid blink: wrong implant, solid red=error
Are LEDs on the Neptune always on?
no-they are a programmable feature
battery status, intellilink, program, and power are always on
Are LEDs on the Naida always on?
some are programmable but battery status, intellilink, power and program are always on
What is IDR
Input dynamic range: different for each person, set by audiologist. can be up to 80 for AB patients
what is the name of the casing that makes the Neptune waterproof?
Hermetic casing
What is the Neptune Connect
allows you to perform listening check
change programs, volume, sensitivity
plug in FM
What is the T-comm?
the t-mic option for the Neptune. It plugs into the Neptune and HP and is worn on the ear
How do you tell the UHP and the Aquamic apart?
UHP is thinner, underside is black
Aquamic has a gray underside (gray for water play)
Are the magnets for the UHP and Aquamic the same?
No. the aquamic magnets are thinner
