- Treaty of Medina Del Campo 1489 it was agreed that henrys heir prince arthur would marry ferdinand and isabellas youngest daughter catherine of aragon
- the tudor dynasty had been recognised as an equal by one of the leading royal families of europe.
- this was a major important to a usuper who was securing international recognition to legitimise his reign
- the agreement set up qual trading for both the countries and fixed customs rate which benefit englasnd more

- This resulted in the treaty of etaples

- it was in 1492
- it laid terms that france would have to pay 5,000 pounds a year to england
- 5% of henrys annual income
- France stopped supporting pretenders to the throne such as perkin warbeck

- Then came truce of Ayton in 1497 which became a peace treaty that was cemented by james 4ths marriage to magaret in 1503

- Commercial treaty signed by henry 7th in 1496 that reinstated trade with burgundy, mcuh more favourable to english traders

burgundy proved to be the greatest threat due to magaret of burgundy and her support of pretenders such as simnel and warbeck
- she also threathened trade cloth since burgundy was a major trading partner to england
Why did Henry banish trade with burgundy in 1493?
- Henry banished all burgundian merchants from england; since burgundy refused to hand over perkin warbeck
- this led to great economic damage for both countries
- this is since burgundy was a great supplier of cloth to enfland
- this action was as harmful to english traders as it was to burgundian traders
- It showcased how henrys priorities were dynastic securtiy over anything else
- the embargo ended with 1496 magnus intercusus

- Due to treaty of medina del campo the prince arthur and catherine of aragon had to marry
- they married 1501 but arthur died 1502
- in 1503 henry 7 bestowed catherin to henry 8
- In 1504 Isabella died
- her sister Joanna was given all the lands of castile and she was married to Phillip of Burgundy
- 1505 they set sail to claim their right
- they landed in england
- 1506 they signed treaty of windosr in which henry would support the acquisition of catille in exchange for malus intercursus 1507- a trade deal very favorouable to england but never ratified by parliament
- Phillip died 1506 ruining all the plans
- Ferdinand took full control of castille
- Charles took over the whole empire
