What are Heinz bodies?
A
Heinz bodies are formed by the damage to haemoglobin in haemoglobinopathies. They attach to, and damage, the red cell membrane. There are characteristically present in the congenital Heinz body haemolytic anaemias, such as G6PD and alpha thalassaemia.
