What is a conjugation?
A list showing a verb together with all its endings.
What are the characteristics of a verb?
- Number (singular or plural)
- Person (1st, 2nd, or 3rd)
- Tense (past, present, future)
Chant the forms of “sum.” (Hint: this is an irregular verb)
sum, es, est, sumus, estis, sunt
What is a declension?
A list showing a noun together with all its endings.
What are the characteristics of a noun?
- Number (singular or plural)
- Gender (masculine, feminine, neuter)
- Case (“NGDAA”)
What does the case of a noun tell you?
The noun’s job.
What are the noun cases?
Nominative, Genitive, Dative, Accusative, Ablative
Translate the sentence: “Dominus spectat.”
The woman enters.
What is the neuter rule?
Neuter nouns always have the same forms in the nominative and accusative case. The plural forms always end in -a.
Adjectives answer three questions:
1) What kind?
2) How many?
3) Which one?
Define predicate nominative.
A noun that renames the subject.
Define predicate adjective.
An adjective that is tied to the subject with a linking verb. It further describes the subject.
