Receives 1 billion a year in aid which makes up around 10% of gdp
Aid project was the contradiction of a dam on the river Volta in order to produce cheap electricity. Resulted in 80,000 being relocated
Dam was built using bilateral aid from UK and multilateral aid from the world bank.
