What is Globalisation?

Globalisation is the concept of culture, ideas and values spreading around the globe. One of the behaviours that psychologists study is abnormal behaviour. Ethan Watters has argued that the prevalence of certain disorders like anorexia and depression have increased as the result of globalisation. Western definitions and symptoms of disorders are increasingly being seen in countries that are “Westernising.” How do we know whether this is a valid argument? It is important for psychologists to
evaluate the methods used by researchers who make these claims.
