process involving sport as a worldwide business featuring corporate brands, media coverage and free movement of performers, officials and spectators
What are free agents?
athletes eligible to sign a contract with an organisation once their existing one has expired (they can choose who to sign with)

What factors affect the choice of free agents?
- weather/climate
- fame and fortune
- win at all costs mentality
- becoming the face of a franchise/club/sport
- teams and coaches with a high status
- play abroad
- play at a higher level
What is a transfer?
athlete who transfered from a club/organisation for sporting, financial or personal reasons
Why might an athlete become a transfer?
- falling out with a club and demanding to be moved to another
- club having financial issues and needing to sell
Why has exposure to sport increased?
- rise in TV/internet
- increased budget airlines
- more accessibility and affordability
- club season tickets offering greater range of travel
- people travelling around the world to view sport
What is the golden triangle?
relationship/dependance between sport, sponsorship and the media
What does the golden triangle represent?
the commercial nature of sport
How does the media benefit from the golden triangle?
increased revenue from advertising increasing views
How does the sport, player and competition benefit from the golden triangle?
benefit from increased revenue, equipment, popularity and profile
How does the sponsor benefit from the golden triangle?
gains exposure for product and services
