Global Warming And Climate Change Flashcards
Explain how the greenhouse effect regulates earths tempurature ?
- Earth absorbs short wavelength radiation from the sun this warms up earth
- Earth emits some of this back to space most of the radiation emitted to space is long wavelength
- Radiation is absorbed by atmospheric gasses
- Then re radiated in all directions
What affects climate change ?
Increasing population as more humans = more energy needed therefore power stations must burn more fuels and release co2 also there is more deforestation for houses therefore less co2 is being removed by photosynthesis
Name one way in which humans are increasing the levels of co2 , methane , and water vapour ?
Co2 = deforestation -less photosynthesis , more cars so more fossil fuels being burnt
Methane = cattle farming increasing , decaying land fill
Water vapour = water evaporation
How has the greenhouse effect lead to climate change ?
More fossil fuels burning = more co2 in atmosphere .
Greenhouse effect warms the earth therefore increasing temperature and contributing to global warming
Name some human and natural causes of weather changes ?
Human - rising co2 and soot / gasses being produced by factories
Natural - ash and gasses thrown into atmosphere by volcanic eruptions
