  • Perianal conditions
    • hemorrhoids
      • a swollen vein or group of veins in the region of the anus.
    • fistula
      • a small tunnel that develops between the end of the bowel and the skin near the anus (where poo leaves the body). They’re usually the result of an infection near the anus causing a collection of pus (abscess) in the nearby tissue. When the pus drains away, it can leave a small channel behind.
    • fissure/ ulcer
      • a tear or open sore (ulcer) that develops in the lining of the large intestine, near the anus.
    • abscess
      • a superficial infection that appears as a tender red lump under the skin near the anus. The infection occurs when bacteria gets trapped in the crypt glands that line the anal canal.
    • Pilonidal sinus (PNS)
      • is a small hole or tunnel in the skin. It may fill with fluid or pus, causing the formation of a cyst or abscess. It occurs in the cleft at the top of the buttocks. A pilonidal cyst usually contains hair, dirt, and debris. It can cause severe pain and can often become infected.
